Naha South

Naha–South Course

Our cycling course starts at our own bike shop,
Okinawa Jiyu Jikan,
where we have plenty of rental bikes ready to go —
and we'll give your bike a full check-up before you set off.

Feel the sacred air of Seifa Utaki,
a UNESCO World Heritage site,
then take in a sweeping panorama of the Pacific from Chinen Cape.
At Niraikanai Bridge,
enjoy the exhilarating rush of coasting down toward the blue sea below.

The second half of the ride is packed with local food.
Sink your teeth into famous tempura on Ou Island,
then savor local flavors at the JA roadside station in Itoman.
Finally, watch the sunset from Senaga Island,
where planes pass close overhead,
as you reach the finish line.
With a good mix of ups and downs,
this course offers a satisfying ride and a true taste of Okinawa's charm.

Tempura Shop on Ou Island

A local favorite worth stopping at when you visit Ou Island. Fried to order, the tempura here is crispy on the outside and light and fluffy inside, with a simple, nostalgic flavor. It's also a fun way to try distinctly Okinawan ingredients like fish, squid, and mozuku seaweed — served up in a casual, grab-and-go style that's perfect for a quick break during your ride. Enjoying hot, fresh tempura with an ocean view makes for a memorable moment on your trip, and a relaxed, local way to experience Okinawa's food culture.

Niraikanai Bridge

A stunning stretch of road known for its dramatic curves that seem to sweep straight down into the sea. The contrast between the blue ocean and sky, seen from up on the bluff, is breathtaking — one of Okinawa's premier viewpoints. There are some hills to climb along the way, but the view that awaits is well worth it, offering the kind of sense of accomplishment and exhilaration only cycling can bring.

Landscape photography

Chinen Cape Park

An open, breezy cape park with sweeping views of the Pacific. A horizon that fills your view and an endless blue sky set an unhurried mood here. It's also a great spot to sit on a bench and rest while feeling the breeze. Stop by mid-ride for a refreshing break for both body and mind.
